THANK YOU EVERYONE WHO ATTENDED!!
This historic one-day regional conference, was a success and the first of its kind in Oregon! We collectively providing this opportunity for Black-identified growers -- farmers, producers, educators, advocates, and ranchers -- to gather, network, discuss experiences, build strategies, and learn about our history and our opportunities!!
This work is a part of a larger effort to combine and share resources available to Black-identified people working, practicing, or doing business around food systems or growing a thriving food economy in the Oregon and SW Washington area. While this is was a black-community centered and invited convening, we openly welcomed folks who identify as Indigenous, POC, Trans, Gender-neutral people who are food justice community builders.
This culturally rooted event also served as an introduction, orientation, and call for participation in the annual OSU SMALL FARMS CONFERENCE held the next day, Saturday, February 23rd, 2019 for detailed technical workshops on soil science, producer skills improvement, market development, and farming infrastructure. Thank you to Bertony, Melony, Nyema, Rohn, Shantae, and all of the attendees for helping make this a real thing!
